Whanganui Bed & Breakfast Accommodation

Browns Boutique BnB is in the heritage heart of Whanganui, sitting on top of the College St rise looking north across the city to Mt Ruapehu and west to the setting sun. This gracious home built in 1910/11 has a private courtyard off your room, nestled amongst established gardens.

Both rooms are filled with art made by our wonderful local artists and makers, plus ‘quirky finds’ from local charity and antique shops. Every detail has been crafted to make your stay unforgettable.

You are only a few minutes walk from Victoria Avenue, the main street of Whanganui.  Also nearby is the Collegiate School, the tennis, squash and bowls clubs, the Splash Centre, Springvale Park, and Cooks Gardens. If you are looking for arts and culture, the Royal Whanganui Opera House, Sarjeant Art Gallery, the heritage precinct, River Traders Market or the Whanganui River are all an easy 20 minute walk.

The Whanganui Region

Whanganui is steeped in history and is the gateway to the central North Island.

If it’s the outdoors you’re wanting to discover, you’re in the right place:

  • Our wild west coast black sand beaches are a short drive.
  • Close to Mt Ruapehu, the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, the Whanganui River Road and Bridge to Nowhere jet boat and canoe trips. All of which are only 1.5 hrs drive away.
  • Ski, snow board, tramp/hike, canoe, mountain bike, hunting, fishing, bird watching: it’s all accessible from here.

Why not exhaust yourself during the day and come back here to soak in our glorious bath or sit by the fire. Then top your evening off with a well earned wine or cold beer. Peter has spent a lifetime in the outdoors and loves to share and discover what you may be interested in. Both Jenny and Peter have travelled extensively within NZ and around the globe… we may find places in common.”
