With all these acronyms floating around, what on earth is AOS?

Well, every year for the past 16 years, Whanganui has held Artists Open Studios over two very full on weekends in march. This is a time that regional artists and makers get to show off their creativity by opening their studios and gallery hubs for visitors to see how they create some very unique art pieces.

Mark your calendar for Friday 24th March through to Sunday 2nd April 2017. Two weekends and a week in between to wander around with friends and spend the weekdays listening to floor talks and throwing your hand at a range of workshops.

Here at Browns Boutique BnB, we take art with a healthy dose of seriousness and playfulness. Our walls and shelves are home to many pieces of Whanganui art purchased from AOS events. We love art and equally love to support our local artists and makers. Our most recent instalment is the floor tiling in the ensuite of our Watercolour a Room. Handmade cement tiles made by local artisan Moabell Design.

We were thrilled to host guest judges Adrian Hailwood and Billy Apple who announced the winning art piece for the cover of the newly designed AOS catalogue, at a very colourful evening at New Zealand Glassworks.

Why not make a trip to Whanganui this year and come and see for yourself, the talent that is tucked away in Whanganui.
